  11. GAME DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. Based on the exciting Universal arcade game, ColecoVision
  14. LADY BUG features a fast-paced adventure. Use
  15. strategy to steer your Lady Bug through a maze, dodging
  16. hungry predatory insects. Use turnstiles to change the maze
  17. and block their pursuit! Lady Bug gathers points and bonuses
  18. by eating dots, hearts and vegetables and by spelling
  19. words. But avoid the deadly skulls! How many points can you
  20. rack up before moving on to faster action?

  23. GETTING READY TO PLAY
  24.  
  25. * Make sure the COLECOVISION console is connected to a
  26.   TV and the power supply is plugged into your console.
  27.   Then plug power supply into a 110/120 volt AC outlet.
  28.  
  29. * TV should be on and tuned to the same channel as the
  30.   Channel Select Switch on the console.
  31.  
  32. * To play one-player LADY BUG, use the controller plugged
  33.   into Port 1 (the rear jack). To play two-player LADY BUG,
  34.   use both controllers.
  35.  
  36. * ALWAYS MAKE SURE COLECOVISION UNIT IS OFF
  37.   BEFORE REMOVING OR INSERTING A CARTRIDGE. Turn
  38.   Off/On Switch to On after cartridge is inserted.

  41. USING YOUR CONTROLLERS
  42.  
  43. NOTE: For a one-player game, use the controller plugged into
  44. Port 1. For a two-player game, Player 1 uses the controller
  45. plugged into Port 1; Player 2 uses the controller plugged into
  46. Port 2.

  48. How To Use Keypad Buttons and Control Stick for LADY BUG
  49.  
  50. 1. Keypad: Keypad Buttons 1-8 allow you to select a Game
  51.    Option before beginning to play. Pressing * after a game
  52.    allows you to replay the same Game Option; pressing #
  53.    after a game allows you to return to the Game Option
  54.    screen.
  55.  
  56. 2. Control Stick: Pushing the Control Stick in any of four
  57.    directions (up, down, left or right) causes Lady Bug to
  58.    move in the direction selected.

  60. NOTE: The Side Buttons are not used for LADY BUG

  63. HERE'S HOW TO PLAY
  64.  
  65. NOTE: If you are playing a two-player game, players take
  66. turns. Player 1 goes first, and each turn lasts until the player's
  67. Lady Bug is eliminated.

  69. STEP 1: The choice is yours.
  70.  
  71. Press the Reset Button. The title screen for LADY BUG
  72. appears on your TV. Wait for the Game Option screen to
  73. appear. It contains a list of game play options, numbered 1-8.
  74. Select one by pressing the corresponding number button on
  75. either controller keypad.

  77. STEP 2: Getting around the maze.
  78.  
  79. Move your Lady Bug through the maze, eating dots as she
  80. goes. Avoid running into skulls!
  81.  
  82. STEP 3: Dodge predatory insects!
  83.  
  84. Each time the timing border changes color, a new dangerous
  85. insect begins to hunt down your Lady Bug To dodge it,
  86. steer her through turnstiles that only she can move. But be
  87. quick or the insect will take advantage of the open turnstile
  88. and follow through right after her.

  90. STEP 4: Earn extra points and bonuses.
  91.  
  92. Have Lady Bug eat hearts, letters and vegetables. Hearts
  93. and letters appear in the regular maze screen. Vegetables
  94. appear in both the regular maze screen and the Vegetable
  95. Harvest Bonus screen. Read Bonus Scoring for special hints
  96. on racking up high scores! The game ends when all your Lady
  97. Bugs have been eliminated.

  99. Press * to replay the LADY BUG Game Option that you have
  100. been playing. Or press # to go back to the Game Option
  101. screen .

  103. NOTE: The Reset Button on the console "clears" the computer
  104. It can be used to start a new game at any time, and can
  105. also be used in the event of game malfunction.

  108.  
  109. Small dot         10 points
  110. Blue heart       100 points
  111. Yellow heart     300 points
  112. Red heart        800 points
  113. Blue letter      100 points
  114. Yellow letter    300 points
  115. Red letter       800 points
  116. Vegetable          (varies)
  117. Spelling EXTRA   500 points

  119. Bonus Scoring
  120.  
  121. Blue heart multiplies rest of your scoring for the level.
  122.  
  123. Yellow letters A, E, R, T and X count toward spelling EXTRA.
  124. You win an extra Lady Bug and go on to the next level of
  125. game play.
  126.  
  127. Red letters A, C, E, I, L, P and S count toward spelling
  128. SPECIAL. You win a Vegetable Harvest Bonus screen and a
  129. chance for extra points, then move on to the next level of
  130. game play.
  131.  
  132. Your first vegetable (cucumber) is worth 1000 points when
  133. eaten. Each vegetable thereafter (each new maze) is worth
  134. 500 points more than the previous one.
  135.  
  136. Each player receives five Lady Bugs in games played at Skill
  137. 1 and three Lady Bugs in games played at Skills 2,3 and 4.
  138. A maximum of three Lady Bugs appear in the Lady Bug
  139. remaining indicator at one time.
